Blood donations are one of the most important things you can do to help others in need. Every day, blood donors help patients of all ages: accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer. This lifesaving care starts with one person making a generous donation. The need for blood is constant. There is no substitute for blood, and it can’t be manufactured. In fact, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. But only about 3% of age-eligible people donate blood yearly. You can help the American Red Cross make sure that supply meets demand.
